MEA MAXIMA CULPA: SILENCE IN THE HOUSE OF GOD which debuts MONDAY, FEBRUARY 4th on HBO (9:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT). Academy Award winner Alex Gibney directed and produced this film, which exposes the widespread abuse of power in the Catholic Church through an examination of the secret crimes of Father Lawrence Murphy, a charismatic Milwaukee priest, who abused more than 200 Deaf children in a school under his control. They spearheaded the first known public protest against clerical sex abuse in the U.S, raising their voices to spark the investigation that helped to uncover secret Vatican documents that revealed the Pope as both responsible and helpless in the face of evil.
